JetBlue adds service from Fort Lauderdale

JetBlue Airways on Tuesday said it is adding two new international routes. The airline plans to begin daily nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Cancun, Mexico, in May, subject to government approval.

The airline’s planned service to Cancun and Santo Domingo is the latest in its Caribbean expansion from Fort Lauderdale.

The airline will begin twice-daily nonstop service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Dec. 18, while another new route, to Nassau, Bahamas, begins Feb. 1.

In addition to its new Caribbean service, JetBlue offers routes from Fort Lauderdale to 13 cities throughout the U.S., with up to 46 daily departures.

JetBlue is the third-largest airline serving Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport based on average daily departures planned for spring 2009.
