Oakland Park -- After years of discussions and plan revisions, city commissioners gave final approval to Oakland Park Station, a development of 224 condominiums and 89 townhouses in the heart of the downtown district.

The project, by the Brenner Real Estate Group, will be at Northeast 12th Avenue and 38th Street, just east of the FEC railroad tracks.

The development will consist of three-story townhouse buildings and six-story condominium buildings at a maximum height of 76 feet, according to the city's Senior Planner Richard Buckeye. There will also be two swimming pools on the third-story decks above the two-story garage.

The nearly 190,600-square-foot warehouse building currently at the location will be demolished and replaced with eight townhouse buildings at the south, east and north perimeter of the project, according to the site plan. The two condominium buildings will be in the center of the property.
